Our water heater coverage is hot!

Contractor fixing water heater

Even with a rigorous routine maintenance schedule, your home’s systems and appliances will eventually fail. Learn about ORHP’s comprehensive water heater coverage that could save you hundreds—even thousands—in repair or replacement costs.

What’s Covered?

Is your water heater failing to provide hot water? Is hot water coming out rusty? We’re here to help. Give us a call, and we’ll dispatch a contractor to diagnose the malfunction.

We cover a wide range of water heaters, including tankless, power vent, direct vent, and mini-tank units, even if the mini-tank is not the primary water heater. Our home warranty plan does not restrict the number of water heaters we protect. And Gold Coverage extends coverage to include water heater expansion tanks and up to $100 to haul away an old water heater upon replacement.

If the service provider recommends flushing the water heater as a solution, we’ll provide coverage! Sediment buildup and rusty water are two of the most common water heater issues and flushing may fix both. Flushing a water heater is easy to do on your own—check out this Quick Fix Tip for instructions.

General Coverage Notes

For all appliance repairs or replacements, we are responsible for providing installation of equipment comparable in features (that affect the operation of the system or appliance), capacity, and efficiency. In some instances, a comparable replacement water heater is unavailable. We may install a smaller capacity water heater if the projected output, recovery time, and efficiency are equal to (or better than) the existing unit.

What’s Not Covered?

With Silver Coverage, vents, flues, water heater heat pump attachments, and holding, storage, and expansion tanks are not covered. Unless a plan holder purchased the Solar Hot Water System Optional Coverage (available in select states), solar water heaters are excluded from coverage.

Sediment buildup in a water heater can cause unpleasant noises without affecting the functionality of the unit (i.e., the water heater still produces hot water according to manufacturer specifications). We will not dispatch a contractor for noise alone. A covered malfunction must exist.

Living without hot water is difficult. But with an Old Republic Home Protection home warranty plan, help is just a phone call or click away!
